Aston Martin unveils AMR24 F1 2024 race car

With the new season nearly upon us, Aston Martin has taken the wraps of its challenger for the 2024 season: meet the AMR24. The British marque says that this is a “strong evolution” over the 2023 car.

There are a number of changes: the nose and front wing have been tweaked for better aerodynamics, a new pushrod rear suspension is in place similar to Mercedes’ car for this year (not an unsurprising change though, as Aston Martin is a customer team to Merc) and Technical director Dan Fallows says that there are a number of changes under the hood as well.

The current F1 regulations place huge emphasis on the floor and sidepod design and Dan Fallows knows that it's crucial to nail the floor. “The floor is the biggest area of downforce generation on an F1 car and it’s constantly being evolved. Getting it right will be of paramount importance to our success in 2024,” he said.

The pre-season testing in Bahrain went quite well for Aston Martin last season, with the team performing superbly at the first few races with Alonso becoming a regular podium contender. However, as the season went on, the momentum faded away and Aston will hope that’s not the case this year.

“Since the last race in 2023, everyone has been hyperfocused on improvements in every area, concentrating our efforts on what really makes a difference, what really matters to be better. Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths, and taking on board the lessons of the previous campaign. 2023 was our best season to date and our goal this season is to score regular points, podiums, and fight for our first win in green,” said Team Principal, Mike Krack.

Maybe Aston Martin could be a dark horse with Fernando behind the wheel? We shall see as the season progresses, starting from February 29 in Bahrain.
