Motorsport enthusiasts, rejoice! Three years since Aston Martin postponed its ‘Hypercar-class’ WEC entry, the British carmaker has announced that a prototype version of its Valkyrie hypercar will be racing at Le Mans in 2025.

Aston has said that at least one Valkyrie will compete in the Hypercar class of both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships (IMSA) in 2025. Yup, Aston Martin’s halo hypercar will be racing in three of the most-coveted races in the history of motorsport - the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The Valkyrie set to enter these races will feature the road-car’s Cosworth-built 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing around 1,000 horsepower. Aston will be tinkering with the powertrain to ensure its compliance with requirements of the Hypercar class and for it to be ready for the rigor of endurance racing.

With the Valkyrie entering the hypercar class, Aston Martin will be going toe-to-toe with Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche, Peugeot, Glickenhaus and Cadillac, and 2024 entrants Alpine and Lamborghini. The hypercar class racing this time is going to be TASTY.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, said: "Performance is the lifeblood of everything that we do at Aston Martin, and motorsport is the ultimate expression of this pursuit of excellence. We have been present at Le Mans since the earliest days, and through those glorious endeavors we succeeded in winning Le Mans in 1959 and our class 19 times over the past 95 years. Now we return to the scene of those first triumphs aiming to write new history with a racing prototype inspired by the fastest production car Aston Martin has ever built.”
