Audi A3 updated

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Apr 6, 2016

Even though most Audi models look the same, there are however some subtle changes that make a huge difference. Take for example the Audi A3, launched in 2012-2013, the car is already up for a mid-cycle facelift and the pictures have been released. The changes made to the new A3 include slight tweaks in the exterior as well as interior. Moreover, there are new options in engines as well. This change is scheduled for European markets for now but we can assume not many differences will be there in the GCC market.

The great news is that the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that is part of the new A4 range also makes its debut in the A3. This engine is capable of producing 190 BHP and 236 lb-ft of torque. There is an upgrade to the S3 engine as well which will now be producing a compelling 310 BHP and 295 lb-ft of torque. Another significant change in the new A3 is the introduction of the seven-speed dual clutch Audi S Tronic transmission that is being used in other premium models by Audi. The S Tronic was introduced in the new A4 and now it is part of the A3 range as well. This replaced the earlier six-speed Audi Multitronic transmission. The A3 will come in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions.

Coming to the exterior, the new A3 has a new set of headlights and taillights and a slightly modified grille. Moreover, there are new alloys designs as well. The cabin now has the Audi digital cockpit as an optional upgrade. Also, the MMI screen interface has been updated. Other than that, there are driver aids added that include lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, automatic braking, traffic jam assist and matrix LED headlights that allow you to keep the high beams ON at all times. Expect the new A3 to be available later this year.
