Audi Middle East held an event for the launch of the all-new Audi A4 in Dubai. The event was for media members only (you can read more about the event here). The event comprised of a test drive as well (you can read about the test drive here). Before the test drive, there was a press briefing where all the changes in the new Audi A4 were explained in detail. It is after all an entirely new car, but still resembles the overall design language of the previous generation. So, it is quite obvious that the subtle changes won’t be noticeable in first glance.

First things first, the new Audi A4 is up to 120 kgs lighter than the previous generation – depending on the engine size. Audi also paid special attention to the noise levels and the A4 is best in class. The car is 4.73 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.43 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.82 meter long. LED headlights are optional and the body is 15 kgs lighter than the previous A4

The interior is the longest and shoulder width in the first row seats is the greatest among competitors. The design of the interior is simplistic and clean with soft touch materials almost everywhere. There is a special air vent strip between center and right air vents in addition to climate control. There are many optional upgrades like ambient lighting, head up display, virtual cockpit and 8.3 inch MMI screen (the standard is a smaller infotainment screen). Moreover, there is natural-language voice control and interface for connecting Apple and Android phones.

There are three engine choices: 1.4 liter producing 150 BHP, 2.0 liter producing 190 BHP and 2.0 liter producing 252 BHP. The first two engines are mated to FWD whereas the last one is an AWD. The transmission is now the S Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission. Safety systems including adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, lane assist, park assist, rear cross traffic assist, turn assist and collision assist are also present.
