Weeks before the global unveil of the Audi Q8 E-tron concept, images of the brand’s production-intent model have surfaced online.  One of March Lichte’s first projects at Audi, the Q8 is aimed at being a cross between a traditional SUV and a Sports Coupe – a segment dominated by the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

Placed above its aforementioned rivals in terms of size and features, speculation is rife that the Q8 could have its sights set on the Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne – models with which it shares its MLB-EVO platform.

Although details about the powertrain remain a mystery, a range of petrol and diesel engines are expected to be made available, including a RS model with a bi-turbo V8 that could pump out around 600 horsepower.

With Audi’s Chief Designer Mark Lichte manning the reigns, the Audi line-up is likely to benefit from a much-needed dose of panache. With ambitious plans to reinvent the line-up and allow for each model to possess an individual identity, the future is exciting for the German marque.

Following in the footsteps of its rival from Stuttgart, the Q8 is expected to have a cabin with a minimal number of physical buttons for a cleaner, more simplistic layout. The infotainment system and all-digital instrument cluster, are expected to control most, if not all functions.
