Bugatti Chiron recalled to fix faulty airbags

Bugatti has recalled two examples of its flagship hypercar – the Chiron. This recall is to fix a possible fault in the side-airbag module in two Chirons based in the United States. Of course, this is no ordinary car manufacturer we are talking about, and its customers aren’t your everyday Joe either.
So, this being Bugatti, the whole process to rectify the fault will start with them sending personalized letters to the owners of the affected Chirons. Later, a crack team of experts will be dispatched to meet the owners and then proceed to remove the seats from each car. However, these seats with the faulty airbags won’t be fixed in the United States. Instead, Bugatti will carefully pack these up in tailor-made wooden crates, and then fly them over to their home base in Molsheim, France for further inspection and possible replacement.
Once fixed, the refurbished seats will be flown back to their respective owners and fitted back in their multimillion-dollar Chirons. As expected, Bugatti will do this free of cost (of course), and we suspect that is something you’d expect if you pay north of $3-million for a hypercar of this caliber. Just to jog your memory, the Bugatti Chiron is powered by an 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged, W16 engine that develops 1,500 horses and a mighty 1,600 Nm of pulling power. Coupled with a lightning-fast 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a permanent all-wheel-drive system, the Bugatti Chiron will blaze past the ton mark in just 2.4 seconds and missile towards a top speed that’s north of 420 km/h.
