Dubai Police guidelines for brake failures

Dubai Police published guidelines for drivers in case a brake failure happens while driving, after a series of similar incidents happened in the UAE and other Gulf states.

The guidelines were published on Facebook, recommending drivers to immediately turn their flash lights on, shift the gear to ‘N’ position, and switch the engine off then on.

If this does not work, the driver should keep on pressing the brakes with full force until the car slows down and comes to a stop, or use the hand brakes gradually to stop the vehicle

Below are the police recommendations:

1 Turn all flash lights on.

2 Shift the gear to N position, switch the engine off then on at the same time.

3 In case the driver could not shift to N, he should press the brakes with full force continuously until the car stops.

4 In case this attempt fails, use the hand brakes gradually while holding the wheel firmly until the car stops.

5 If all previous attempts fail, move the gear to N then to D continuously.
