Dubai taxis made over 50 million trips in first half of 2013

Dubai taxis trips increased by 3 per cent this year compared to last year. In the first half of the year, taxis in Dubai broke their record with 50,012,545 trips, with a monthly average of 8,335,424 trips.

D8 system, the system used in management of reservation and distribution of taxis, monitors the movement of the taxis in Dubai, providing data about the number of trips they completed.

Adel Shakri, Director of Transport Systems at the RTA Public Transport Agency, was talking about the Reservation and Distribution Center and said: “The center also provides its permanent customers the IVR calls, where the caller can book and determine the time and address and type of service by following the instructions of the recorded voice message, and other services that cover the needs of all segments of society; such as reserving  taxis for people with special needs and vehicles for women and family taxis and vehicles containing seats for children.”
