EV News: Stylish Polestar 6 Electric Roadster to launch in 2026

Posted by Tejas Kokcha on Aug 25, 2022

Polestar made waves when it unveiled its sleek and very futuristic looking O2 convertible concept in March. Now, the Swedish automotive brand has confirmed that the concept will go into production and be named Polestar 6.

The convertible will be underpinned by an in-house 800-volt EV  architecture on which the Polestar 5 will also be built. Thanks to that platform, the Polestar 6 will be able to have a dual-motor powertrain setup capable of producing 884 horsepower and 900 Newton-meters of torque.

We’re told that the Polestar 6 will be able to hit 62mph (100kph) from a standstill in 3.2-seconds and have a top speed of 155-mph (250-kph).

The good news is that you can actually buy one! Yup, Polestar is accepting a minimum token amount of $25,000 for the car with the total price of the car being $200,000.

If you are part of the first 500 depositors, then you will get the Polestar 6 LA Concept edition. The special La Edition cars will be numbered and have bespoke features like light leather interior, super-cool 21-inch wheels and a Sky blue.

“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”

This special edition of the 6 will be revealed in 2026 with the regular cars following afterwards.
