Fascinating facts about the 2018 Lexus LC

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Jun 29, 2017

Determined to lure a new clientele away from competing brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the Lexus LC is the marque’s take on a high-end luxury grand tourer. Based on the LF-LC concept, the Japanese coupe packs more than just a futuristic design, making it the ideal contender for an article of this sort.

Tech

Tech-laden as Lexus’ have come to be, the LC is a technophile’s paradise with features that include a 10.3-inch split-screen multimedia display controlled by a sizeable remote touchpad, a full-color Heads-Up Display, a voice recognition and command system, and a banging Mark Levinson audio system that pumps out 915-Watts through a 13-speaker set-up.

Capability

Believed to be dull in comparison to its non-hybrid rival, the Lexus LC 500h proves its competence in numbers. Completing a 0 – 100 km/h run in 4.7-seconds, the hybrid stands at just two tenths of a second slower than the V8 model. What’s also worth highlighting, is that the Lexus LC 500h is the very first hybrid from the brand to come with a rear-wheel-drive layout.

Transmission

Continuing its streak of firsts in its segment and the brand’s portfolio alike, the Lexus LC is fitted with a 10-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission that shifts cogs in a blistering 0.12 seconds – quicker than any conventional automatic transmission to date. Claimed to be one of the smartest transmissions ever built, it also selects the right gear based on vehicle speed and acceleration, and can adjust for cornering.
