FIA Bans Performance Communication

Posted by Hassan Siddiqi on Sep 14, 2014

FIA has banned radio communications that aid in driving performance. This is another step by FIA to ensure a balance between driver skill and technology aids. According to FIA, the move is seen as an enforcement of Article 20.1 in it's Sporting Regulations which say "The driver must drive the car alone and unaided". While the driver will be able to communcate with engineers on safety and pitstop related advice, the conversations cannot include actual driving advice. The conversations will continue to be available for public hearing during a live F1 race.
