First Drive Review: 2015 Nissan X-Trail

Posted by on Sep 18, 2014

If you're planning to buy a new family crossover, there are many options to choose from. The core question is this: Are you looking to buy a short term family car that will be sold after two years or do you plan to keep it for more than two years? For short term family cars, the best value for money lies not in Japanese but in Korean cars, such as Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson They are cheap, stylish and will work best for two years, after which it's best to sell them because they are generally not as reliable as Japanese models. Having said that, Korean cars are slowly building up their reliability and resale value.

On the other hand, if you plan to buy and keep the car for more than two years, then it's time to examine the Japanese models and not just for reliability. There are many other factors to consider, such as aftersales service, cost of spare parts, resale value and service contract costs. Most important, how good is the actual product?

The new Nissan X-Trail offers a superior product in the market when it comes to economy 5 seater Japanese family crossovers. It has an unparalleled aftersales record in the Middle East and it's service contract and resale value is one of the most competitive in the region. We took the new X-Trail for a test drive and here is our feedback.
