First Emirati Supercar: The Dubai Roadster

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Jul 3, 2014

There is something attractive about being homegrown. This statement holds true in case of the first Emirati-built supercar titled The Dubai Roadster. This prototype will be ready for production early next year with the estimated price tag of AED 400,000.

This project is headed by 2 Emiratis – Rashid Al Shaali (a former racing driver) and Mostafa Aldah (engineer and road-safety expert) – and a French car designer Anthony Colard. The plan is to make 25 vehicles available for sale at the next Dubai Motor Show. The project costs between AED 3m to 4m.

The Dubai Roadster will have a titanium chassis with panels made of carbon-fiber and fiber-glass. All this light body weight will result in the car accelerating from 0-100 in 3.5 seconds. This car is targeted as a rival to the KTM X-Bow or BAC Mono though this won’t be limited to the racetrack and will be a road car as well.

The car has its initial welds completed and will soon undergo full crash testing and emission regulation to make it road legal in the UAE.
