First Look: 2015 Ford Edge

Ford announced the launch of it's all new Edge. This mid-size crossover has new designs, innovations and technologies. From body design to suspension setup to really awesome gadgets. For one, it is now based on the Fusion platform which means the driving dynamics will be significantly improved resulting in agile handling while softer ride. Modifications are not merely cosmetic as Ford has made changes to the interior as well. It is now a lot quieter due to thicker insulation and the upper trims actually feature noise cancellation technology - this is premium vehicle category. Moreover, adaptive steering has finally arrived on Ford platform.Other safety features include 360 degree camera, active park assist, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support.

Coming to the engines, three options are available: 

- 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine producing 245 BHP and 2.7 liter EcoBoost engine producing 300 BHP. This is the first ford to feature an EcoBoost engine as standard. This, in addition with the start-stop function will theoretically improve the overall mileage resulting in better efficiency.

- The third available option is the 3.5 liter V6 carried over from previous generation producing 285 BHP. 

All three engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters as standard. The Edge still remains a five-seater crossover for city commuting aimed at young adults. The 2015 Edge goes on sale in spring of next year with an estimated starting price of $28,000.
