First Look: 2015 Honda Civic Type R

It's back! Honda revealed the new Civic Type R at the recent Geneva Motor Show. It is touted as the fastest front-wheel drive car at the famous Nurburgring circuit by none other than the Honda President & CEO Takanabu Ito himself. The engine is rumoured to be a 2.0 liter turbocharged instead of a naturally aspirated VTEC due to competitors churning up higher horsepower and low emissions. This was the major reason of the delay and Honda had to go back to the drawing board. Specifications of the engine have not been confirmed yet but the 2.0 L turbocharged will probably produce around 276 bhp and 400Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-100 is expected to be around 6 seconds.

Honda describes Civic Type R as a “race car for the road” and this theme is evident in their design. It has a large rear wing, vent behind the rear wheel, dramatic wheel-arch with quad exhausts and a full width diffuser.

This new car by Honda will be released next year with a price tag of roughly $50,000. Meanwhile, you can preview the car being put to its limits at Nurburgring below.
