Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Jul 13, 2014

The Sonata is to Hyundai what Accord and Camry are to Honda and Toyota respectively. It is a mid-size FWD sedan targeted at a general consumer with a modest-size family and living. This car segment is extremely popular and attracts thousands of buyers if not millions every year. Hyundai knows that this is where the money is and it also has to compete with the more popular choices i.e. Accord and Camry. So, it needs to give consumers bang for their buck. Does the new Sonata really have what it takes? Let’s look at the features:

- Auto trunk open due to proximity of key fob with the rear

- Styling cues taken from the new Genesis

- LED daytime lamps and taillights

- Wheel covers are abandoned in favor of alloys

- Panoramic sunroof

- 5.0” touchscreen audio is standard

- Back-up camera

- Volkswagen inspired gauges

- 7 airbags

- 2 engine options: 2.4 liter naturally-aspirated producing 185 BHP and 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing 245 BHP

- 3 drive modes: Normal, Eco and Sport

- Safety features including Blind spot detection, collision warning, adaptive cruise and lane departure warning

- Powered driver’s seat

- Large interior and cargo dimensions

Judging from this feature list, the new 2015 Hyundai Sonata looks like a winner.
