First Look: Mclaren P1

Posted by Hassan Siddiqi on Sep 18, 2012

Mclaren P1 will be unveiled at the Paris Show in a few days, with one objective: “To be the best driver’s car in the world on road and track.”

The supercar boasts 960 HP and will not compete with Bugatti Veyron for the speed honors. Instead it's objective is to achieve record lap times with superior technological capability.

From a design perspective, there are similarities with the MP4-12C and the original F1. The P1 is expected to have a twin turbo V8 engine supplemented by the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) which is expected to deliver short bursts of 160 HP.

Only 500 models will be produced, hinting that this is likely to be a collector and investor item more than a race car regular. We expect a few to arrive in the Middle East soon, probably in the oil rich Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE. Stay tuned for Arabian spyshots!
