Henrik Fisker quit the company he founded, citing differences with the management. Fisker Automotive, founded as a pioneer in hybrid supercar segment launched the Fisker Karma at 2008 Detroit Auto Show. In 2012 Fisker Automotive partnered with Trading Enterprises to bring Fisker Karma to UAE.

As reported by USA Today, Fisker currently faces issues in terms of investment. Additional problems include loss of their battery manufacturer and some complaints of technical faults by consumer and reviewers. Production has currently been suspended until further notice. Only 2500 Karmas have been produced so far.

In December, influential Consumer Reports gave the Karma "a failing grade" citing multiple problems with its test vehicle.
