Free parking for electric vehicles in Dubai

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Oct 1, 2020

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced complimentary parking for all Dubai-registered electric vehicles in a move to support the emirate’s Green Mobility Strategy. Encouraging the use of electric and environmentally-friendly vehicles, RTA issued a statement exempting electric vehicles from paying public parking fees for the next two years.

“This initiative complements a previous initiative launched in 2018 designating parking slots in various parts of Dubai to electric vehicles exclusively. It contributes to improving the air quality, curbing carbon emissions, and enhancing sustainability besides encouraging the public to own this type of vehicle,” said Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.

It is worth noting that approximately 1,803 electric vehicles registered in the emirate of Dubai will benefit from this initiative.
