Fuel prices in the UAE increase in May

The UAE fuel price committee and Ministry of Energy have announced fuel prices for the month of May. Since January this year, the prices of Super 98 and Special 95 have jumped 25 fils per liter, while the price of Diesel has followed the same trend and increased 23 fils per liter.

Inclusive of VAT, fuel prices for the month of May stand at AED 2.49 per liter for Super 98, AED 2.37 per liter for Super 95, and AED 2.56 per liter for Diesel. These prices are approximately 6.8% higher (15 fils more per liter) than the fuel prices in April.

• Super 98: Dh2.49 per litre (up from Dh2.33 in April)

• Special 95: Dh2.37 per liter (up from Dh2.22 in April)

• Diesel: Dh2.56 per liter (up from Dh2.40 in April)

To put into perspective, an individual paying approximately AED 155 to fill up the 70-liter tank of their vehicle in April, will now have to shell out AED 166 for the same amount of fuel.
