Geely Emgrand GT 2016 vs Competition

Geely Auto, the Chinese automaker, held an exclusive event for the launch of the all-new Emgrand GT. This car is the flagship offering from the Chinese brand. It was launched by the exclusive Geely dealer – Union Motors – at their showroom in Deira, Dubai. The biggest thing going in favor of the Emgrand GT is definitely its price. The Geely Emgrand GT starts at AED 59,995. For this price, you will be getting a car that is a front wheel drive car. The GT is powered by a 2.4 liter engine. The 2.4 liter engine produces a decent 160 BHP and 210 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. This is good enough to propel the car from 0-100 in about 11 seconds. Geely says that the GT is aimed at the BMWs and Mercedes. Well, that argument makes sense considering the fact that the Emgrand GT has won the ‘China Car of the Year’ award.
In comparison, if anyone has to shell out AED 60,000 on a car, they can buy a Kia Cerato or a Hyundai Elantra. But they are all compact sedans and the Emgrand GT is a mid-size sedan. It competes head to head with the likes of Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and Honda Accord but is priced like a compact sedan. Moreover, the dealer Union Motors is offering a buy back guarantee after three years of purchase with 40% depreciation value.

The dealer is also doing special mods like coating the car with special chrome paint. Other than that you will find features such as Hydraulic Power Steering for better handling, leather steering wheel, cruise control, ventilated discs in the front, 17 inch alloys, brake assist, ABS and EBD, traction control, electronic parking brakes, hill-start assist control, panoramic sunroof, daytime LED, automatic headlamps, electric folding side mirrors, dual climate control a/c, rear a/c vents, airbags, keyless smart entry system, remote switch for opening/closing sunroof, parking sensors – front and rear, reverse camera, driver memory function for the seat/steering/mirror and eight speaker audio system. There is also an 8 inch infotainment system with GPS navigation, Bluetooth, SD card and AUX/USB ports for functionality.
