Genesis G70 set for South Korean premiere

South Korean automaker Genesis, which became a standalone brand after leaving the Hyundai umbrella in 2016, has confirmed the premiere of the eagerly anticipated G70 sports sedan for September 15th 2017. Sharing many of its components with the equally exciting Kia Stinger, the G70 is hyped to be more dynamically capable than its stablemate, with a shorter wheelbase and lower curb weight.

Housing a 3.3-liter gasoline turbo engine under the hood, the Genesis G70 Sports boasts a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.7-seconds, which is noticeably faster than the Kia Stinger at 4.9-seconds. The rear-wheel-drive sedan wears big boots, for it is tasked with luring customers away from entry-level models in the Audi, BMW, Jaguar, and Mercedes-Benz line-up.

The third and smallest model in the Genesis line-up, the G70 previews the brand’s “athletic elegance” design philosophy, which it plans to display in future Genesis models. Athletic proportions are created by a long hood – typical of a sports sedan – short front overhang, and an elegant sloping roofline.

Noteworthy features include, a server-based speech recognition program and a plethora of active safety technologies including highway driving assist with adaptive cruise control, driver attention and drowsiness warning, blind-spot detection and collision warning, and nine airbags scattered across the cabin.

Operating in Canada, Korea, the Middle East, Russia, and the United States of America, it’s a matter of time before the Genesis G70 makes its way to showrooms in the UAE.
