Global EVRT participants prepare to take on UAE and Oman in January

Returning for the second year in a row and accelerating the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the region, Global EVRT and electric vehicle advocates are set to take on UAE and Oman in an epic 1,217-kilometer road trip that will span nine days and see the introduction of eighteen new charging stations.

The nine-day road trip guide a convoy of all-electric powered vehicles drive through the deserts of Abu Dhabi, the mountains of Oman and along the rugged coastline of the Northern Emirates. Setting off in Abu Dhabi, the cars will visit Sohar and Muscat before driving through Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, and Sharjah before reaching the finish line at The Sustainable City in Dubai.

Ben Pullen, Managing Director of Global EVRT said: “The Electric Vehicle market has developed significantly in the last 12 months in the UAE and it’s fantastic to see that there are other forward-thinking governments and industry in this region, such as Oman who are already working on smart city development, with inevitable plans for electric vehicles soon.”

The new charging stations will be set up at key locations in the UAE and Oman, including Crowne Plaza Yas Island, Crowne Plaza Sohar, Crowne Plaza Muscat, InterContinental Muscat and InterContinental Fujairah, where they will remain as a permanent fixture and expand on the current EV infrastructure.

Tickets are available for members of the public to participate and drive an electric vehicle for sections of the trip. Tickets will either cover all nine days or can be bought for a shorter five-day jaunt, Abu Dhabi to Muscat (January 18th to January 22nd) or Muscat to Dubai (January 22nd to January 26th).
