What surfaced as a concept a little over a year ago has finally hit the production line as spy shots reveal Hongqi has started working on the production version of its E-HS9 Electric SUV. What dominates the front-end is a massive Rolls-Royce like chrome grille with large vertical slats while lighting is provided courtesy of horizontal headlamps and vertical LED daytime running lamps.

Powering the electric Hongqi E-HS9 is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system that pushes 215hp and 350 Nm of torque to the front wheels, along with 295 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. This means total power output stands at 510 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque, extremely impressive figures from a 92.4-kWh battery.

The production model is said to measure 5,160mm (203.1 in.) long, 2,000mm (78.8 in.) wide and 1,730mm (68.1 mm) tall with a 3,250mm (128.0 in.) wheelbase. That means it has a similar footprint to the BMW X7, which itself, is 5,151 mm (202.8 in) long, 2,000 mm (78.7 in) wide, and 1,805 mm (71.1 in) tall with a 3,105 mm (122.2 in) wheelbase.

Local prices in China are expected to range between 480,000 yuan (AED 246,000) to 550,000 yuan (AED 282,000).
