Hyundai Drops IONIQ 5 Teaser before February Reveal

Korean automaker Hyundai has released a new teaser for its upcoming IONIQ 5 electric car. While the teaser doesn’t reveal much, apart from the front and rear lights, it does tell us that the world premiere is set for mid-February. Building on the 45 concept that rocked the automotive industry, the all-new IONIQ 5 will be Hyundai Group’s first electric vehicle based on their new E-GMP architecture.

While many details remain under wraps, the IONIQ 5 crossover features pixel-inspired headlights that are “suggestive of the digital technology within.” Hyundai also stated that the IONIQ 5 will be the first model to feature a clamshell hood that spans the entire width of the car. Through the teaser videos released, we also know that the brand’s newest electric vehicle features a 110/220V power outlet that lets owners power everything from an oven to a treadmill, no matter where they are.

As per the grapevine, the all-new IONIQ 5 is expected to churn out 309 horsepower and accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.4-seconds. Although there is no word on the battery capacity yet, the WLTP range is said to be 450 kilometers, which isn’t too shabby considering the solar roof will help charge the batteries when parked.
