Incoming: AI to Analyze and Dispatch Traffic Accident Reports In Dubai

Posted by Ahmad Rashad Al Zeer on Oct 22, 2023

Do you know how Dubai Police handles minor traffic accidents? They use artificial intelligence (AI) to make it faster and easier for drivers.

This cutting-edge mechanism is a pivotal feature within the Dubai Police app and website, aptly named the 'Minor Accident Reporting' service. Unlike the current process, where drivers furnish accident details for manual review by a police officer, the future holds a seamless transition. AI will deftly dissect the accident, swiftly generating and disseminating reports to all involved parties.

Major General Khaled Nasser Al Razooqi, the star leading this endeavor as Director of the Artificial Intelligence Department at Dubai Police, clarifies that this AI-powered system is presently in its developmental and testing phase. The objective? “The goal is to enhance public services smartly and innovatively, speeding up the issuance of traffic reports, reducing manual processes by 50 per cent, and decreasing congestion caused by minor accidents,” he said.

Al Razooqi underscores that this progressive service aligns with the vision of Lieutenant Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. It's a concerted effort to continuously elevate the force's smart services, streamlining user transactions and preserving their invaluable time and energy.

But they are not stopping there. They are working on a new feature that will use AI to analyze the accident and issue the report automatically. No human intervention is needed.

Steps: How To

Drivers take attention: the Minor Accident Reporting service empowers you to self-report incidents, obviating the need for a police presence at the scene. This not only averts traffic snarls but also safeguards your precious time. With just four simple steps:

Log in to the app with your driver’s license, ID, or plate number. Upload pictures of the accident. Let the AI figure out who is at fault and where the damage is. Get your report instantly.

This will save time, reduce manual work, and prevent traffic jams. It’s part of their vision to improve their smart services and make life easier for users.

They announced this plan at the Gitex tech show in Dubai, where they showcased their latest innovations.
