Increasing speed gradually reduces fuel consumption

General Command of Abu Dhabi Police advises drivers how to reduce the waste in fuel, as reported by Alrroya.

They summed advice up in brochures, describing it as Precious Advice for Drivers, which were distributed in public places. First advice is to increase speed gradually, pointing out that the sudden speed raises fuel consumption and pollution of the environment besides reducing engine life.

They emphasize the need to maintain the proper air pressure in the tires, otherwise it may cause friction with the ground which consumes more fuel.

They advise to use brakes gradually. Driver should be ready to lift his feet from the accelerator and brake early. This reduces fuel consumption significantly and reduces pressure on the brakes.

They underline the need to maintain the speed of rotation of the engine so as to be relatively low and less than three thousand rpm in order to reduce fuel burn, pointing out that early transmission helps to reduce fuel consumption.
