Infiniti commits to electric future under Ambition 2030 plans

If you know about the flora and fauna of the car industry then you will know that Infiniti is Nissan’s premium brand. Last year Nissan announced its Ambition 2030 plans going by which it will be adding electric cars to its portfolio. Quite expectedly, Infiniti has followed suit and said that it will be going all-in on electric cars.

But hold on a minute - Infiniti hasn’t said that it will be fully electric by 2030. Instead, the brand will only add electric cars to its portfolio while also keeping petrol-powered cars and hybrids part of its offerings.

Along with the announcement, Infiniti also released a cool teaser image of a concept car. The concept car and other future EV offerings will be built in Infiniti’s Canton Mississippi vehicle assembly plant. To lead the electric charge, Nissan will be investing $500 million in the plant to modernise it and prepare it for building electric cars.

“By 2030 we envisage that the majority of INFINITI models sold globally will be electrified” said INFINITI Chairman Peyman Kargar. “In confirming one of the future locations where our new generation of electric products will be built, we progress towards achieving this goal.”
