Infiniti launches all new QX55 Crossover Coupe

It was Infiniti that began the Crossover Coupe by launching the FX nearly two decades ago and today the Japanese luxury brand continues its legacy with the introduction of the all-new QX55. In the words of the brand itself, the QX55 is an SUV that combines “unapologetic style with inspired dynamics.”

While the underpinnings are shared with the QX50, the QX55 flaunts a sportier and more streamlined design with a mesh grille that is flanked by LED headlights and sportier air intakes with gloss black accents. At the back, there’s a new liftgate with an angular glass panel and a unique spoiler, in addition to “digital piano key” taillights which each have 45 individual LEDs. Rounding out the highlights is a dual exhaust system and an Infiniti badge that doubles as a button for the power liftgate.

Although the exterior has been reworked quite drastically, the same cannot be said about the interior. It is largely a carryover of the QX50, which means buyers will find analog gauges, some plastic panels, and a relatively outdated dual-screen infotainment system with 7-and 8-inch respectively. The base model will come equipped with leatherette upholstery, aluminum trim, a moonroof, and heated front seats. Higher-end variants will feature semi-aniline leather, open-pore wood trim, and a 16-speaker Bose audio system.

Power will be provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is connected to a CVT gearbox and produces 268 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque.
