Back in May last year, Porsche announced that it was testing prototypes of an all-electric version of the SUV due in 2023. Now, at Porsche's Capital Markets Day, CEO Oliver Blume revealed that the German marque is looking to extend its lineup with a large, luxury, all-electric SUV.

"We plan to add a new luxury, all-electric SUV model to our attractive portfolio. This [new model] will further expand our position in the luxury automotive segment. We are targeting the higher margin segments in particular and aim to tap into new sales opportunities in this way,” Porsche’s head honcho stated.

The statement suggests that this new electric SUV will be larger and more expensive than the electric Macan. Oliver Blume further elaborated that the model will be assembled in Leipzig, Germany. Could this be an electric version of the legendary Cayenne? That only time will tell.

Just like the electric Macan, this luxury electric SUV will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) which the two Porsche SUVs will also share with the Audi Q6 E-tron

With the electric Macan, 718, and now this new SUV planned, Porsche looks all set to achieve its goal of having EVs contribute more than 80% of the total sales by 2030.
