Jaguar rebranding its performance segment

If you have recently bought a Jaguar with an R-S badge then hold onto it as it will be the last batch of cars carrying those logos. It is because Jaguar (as well as Land Rover) is soon going to rebrand their performance vehicles with the SVR badge. This new badge indicates the cars are developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicles Operations to compete with the German rivals AMG and M.

The first car to come out is the Range Rover Sport SVR which was seen showcasing its performance capability at Nurburgring. The 5.0 liter supercharged V8 now produces 550 BHP mated to a specially tuned 8 speed automatic. The suspension is also stiffened to make this SUV rival the Mercedes ML 63 AMG and the BMW X6M.

The second car is the recently teased F-Type Project 7. It is a beefed up F-Type with the 5.0 liter V8 tuned to produce 575 BHP. Other cars like XF are also likely to receive the SVR treatment in the future.

However, the SVR doesn’t mean the end of R badge which signifies the mid-level performance tuning. So, the XFR and the F-Type R coupe will still be produced side-by-side.

Have a look at the Range Rover Sport SVR at Nurburgring.
