Jeep reveals long awaited Grand Cherokee L

Nearly a decade after launching the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee, American automaker Jeep has taken the wraps off the all-new Grand Cherokee L. Set to be sold alongside the current model, the Grand Cherokee L is a newer, more luxurious, 3-row SUV to cater to the needs of larger families.

Fairly different in the looks department, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L borrows quite a few design elements from the brand’s upcoming flagship SUV, the Grand Wagoneer. With slim, horizontal headlights and a deep seven-slat grille, the Grand Cherokee L is noticeably different, and depending on the trim, it also features LED daytime running lights integrated into the bumper.

Along the sides, the length of the new model is apparent with a wheelbase that measures in at 121.7 inches and an overall length of 204.9 inches. The elegant styling is continued with a delicate chrome line embellishing the window lining and slim lighting elements in the back.

Where the big changes have taken place are on the interior with a cabin that is radically different from the outgoing model. An all-new dashboard houses an 8.4-inch touch infotainment screen or a larger 10.1-inch touch screen in higher trim models and both run the automaker’s latest UConnect 5 software with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Part of the standard equipment list is a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster display with night vision assist.

Engine options are quite familiar with a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 sitting at the bottom of the range. There is also a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that produces 357 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque. Regardless of which engine customers opt to go for, 8-speed automatic transmission is standard. Other notable features are the addition of a Quadra-Lift adaptive air suspension that both improves the ride quality on-road and off-road.

Pricing details are yet to be announced, but we expect it to be a fair bit higher than the outgoing model.
