The Kia GT is arguably the most anticipated reveal of the upcoming Detroit Motor Show. A four-door coupe that the Korean brand has been tinkering with for the past five years, the GT marks a radical departure from the brand’s comfort zone of low-priced and economical city beaters.

With a series of vague teaser videos surfacing on the internet, Kia seems to be encompassing the World Wide Web to deliver hints as to the coupe’s seductively sporty exterior and immaculately crafted interior prior to its global reveal on 8th January.

Staying true to the deeply sculpted concept model, the production version is seen sporting prominent vents along the hood and fenders, in addition to a boot mounted spoiler and quad-exit tailpipes. The interior, though restricted in view, is seen to be home to faux carbon fiber trim and an Audi-inspired automatic transmission shifter.

If rumors are anything to go by, the Kia GT is believed to be powered by a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 360 horsepower and directs its grunt to the rear wheels. What’s certain, however, is that the flagship GT will be the fastest accelerating model in the brand’s line-up with an estimated top speed of 250 km/h and a 0 – 100 km/h time of just 5.1 seconds.

Here’s hoping the Kia GT lives up to the hype and isn’t as much of a disappointment as its sister company’s Veloster Turbo.
