Land Rover Defender beware! Production of the Ineos Grenadier will soon start in Hambach

Ever since its launch, apart from the few diehard Land Rover enthusiasts comparing it to the original, the Land Rover Defender has had quite a smooth ride. Now though things will be getting tricky for the SUV as production of the Ineos Grenadier will soon start in hambach.

For those of you who don’t know, the Ineos brand is the brainchild of Jim Ratcliffe who is the Chairman of the brand. He wanted to build a spiritual successor to the original Land Rover Defender and he’s done just that. We’re told that the Grenadier will be “a truly uncompromising 4x4 built from the ground up”.

Initial images of the hambach factory show proper diehard SUVs ready to rule the road. Ineos got its current hambach facility back in January 2021 from Mercedes Benz. The factory is just 200km from the company’s HQ in Stuttgart and it will now have a skilled workforce to build the Grenadiers.

“Some 15,000 customers worldwide have reserved their Grenadier,” said Dirk Heilmann, CEO of INEOS Automotive. “We want to deliver a vehicle that’s ready, and we won’t cut corners. With the benefit of the highly skilled and experienced team at Hambach, as well as the expertise in safety and quality that we have employed, we are on target to begin series production in July.”

Ineos is preparing to reveal the full pricing for the Grenadier in April. After the announcement, customers in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East will be able to finalize their order online or through their local retailer.
