Lexus announces 2023 Design Award winners

Lexus has announced the winners of its 11th Design Awards and they are fantastic. The core principles for this year’s awards were “Anticipate”, “Innovate”, and “Captivate”. The award attracted 2,068 entries from 63 countries and the four winners were chosen by a three-judge panel featuring some of the creative industries leading names in Paola Antonelli, Karim Rashid, and Simon Humphries.

The winners are: Fog-X by Pavels Hedström - an expandable mobile habitat that catches fog and turns it into drinking water, Print Clay Humidifier by Jiaming Liu - 3D-printed non-electric humidifier made with recycled ceramic waste, Touch the Valley by Temporary Office - 3D contour puzzle that helps visually impaired people learn about the physical environment, Zero Bag by Kyeongho Park & Yejin Heo - a clothing package that dissolves in water and acts as a detergent that can remove any chemicals from the clothes.

The mentorship program for the creators of these groundbreaking concepts started in mid-January with the winners learning from four world-class creators: Marjan van Aubel, Joe Doucet, Yuri Suzuki, and Sumayya Vally.

This year’s submissions have been exceptional in terms of ideas, with the four winners demonstrating unparalleled creativity, resourcefulness, and a great capacity for forward-thinking.”

As part of the mentoring process, the prototypes will be further developed and refined with Lexus presenting the new versions of them this spring.
