Mark your calendars! Porsche 911 GT3 RS set to break cover on August 17

The all new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be revealed on August 17, as confirmed by the German carmaker with some teaser images. The RS will be the more beefed up version of the much-loved GT3 and is set to be the range-topping version of the 911.

Porsche has also spilled the beans regarding the powertrain by announcing that the next-gen GT3 RS will be powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine packing more than 500 horsepower. This is the same engine that powers the GT3 but it will be uprated for the RS.

What’s more, the 911 GT3 RS will undergo a number of weight-saving measures and is expected to have a lighter chassis, carbon fibre bodywork and a stripped-out, bare-bones interior.

“The new 911 GT3 RS is even more optimised for track use than its predecessors. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine with approximately 500 PS has proven ideal for use at trackdays and club sport events. That's why we focused primarily on aerodynamics and chassis questions in the development of the new 911 GT3 RS.” said Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line.

The Porsche GT3 starts at AED 666,700 in the UAE so we expect the GT3 RS to cost north of AED 720,000.
