In a historic nod to its motorsport glory, Maserati is remembering the 70th anniversary of Juan Manuel Fangio's triumphant victory at the 1953 Italian Grand Prix. Behind the wheel of his Maserati A6GCM, the Argentine racing legend secured his sole victory of the season in the heart of Monza, an achievement that echoes through the annals of Formula 1.

Maserati's heritage in motorsport dates back to 1926, with Alfieri Maserati's historic victory at the Targa Florio in the Tipo 26. The brand's DNA has been imprinted with a desire for excellence in motorsport over the years.

Talking about Fangio, he was a driving force for Maserati, propelling the Italian brand into the realms of motorsport excellence. He etched Maserati into the racing heritage folklore, clinching the Formula 1 crown in 1954 and 1957. Despite later relinquishing the title of the most decorated Formula 1 driver to Schumacher, Fangio's legacy remains an integral part of Maserati's racing heritage. Fangio cemented his name alongside F1 greats such as Senna and Schumacher.

As Maserati commemorates the legend, this year has been quite special for the Trident in motorsport highlighted by its foray into Formula E, securing podium finishes and a remarkable victory in the 100% electric series. Theitalian carmaker has also announced its re-entry into GT competitions, unveiling the 621-horsepower MCXtrema at the 24 Hours of Spa.
