Maserati MCXtrema is the MC20-based track toy we’ve been waiting for

The Maserati MC20 has well and truly revived the Maserati brand. The MC20 has reinvigorated the Italian carmaker’s sporty image among car enthusiasts with its back-to-basics no-nonsense pure driving experience. Now, Maserati has taken the MC20 to another level with the track-only MCXtrema.

What a name, huh? And what a track toy the MCXtrema is. It has the MC20’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 which has been spruced up by MCX-specific turbochargers and now produces a whopping 730 horsepower. The monstrous powertrain is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox with a garage clutch.

The MCXtrema features a carbon fiber monocoque and an action packed exterior. The roof-mounted split air intake flanks a prominent, illuminated shark fin which improves stability and routes air toward the massive rear wing. The oversized diffuser is the center of attraction at the back with a complex mesh of carbon fiber surrounding the exhaust outlets and trident-theme tail lights.

Inside, you will find a 5.0-inch display, buttons and rotary selectors, carbon and aluminum construction on the steering wheel. The structural crossbeam houses the “command center.” The driver will have access to communications systems, lap times, pit speed limitation, and steering and traction control calibration through the command center and steering wheel controls. A passenger seat is available as an optional extra.

The MCXtrema is fully customisable with customers getting the chase to tailor the position of the steering wheel, pedal box, and controls and much more according to their needs.

Only 62 MCXtremas will be made with pricing yet to be confirmed. Expect it to be a few millions.
