Mclaren ceasing production of 12C

Well, this was coming sooner or later. From the moment Mclaren unveiled its new 650S – a car that is slightly more powerful than the 12C and less than the P1 – we were wondering what will happen to the 12C because no one will bother with the older car as they can buy the new one. It’s like Ferrari selling 458 and 430 together – doesn’t make sense. But Mclaren kept insisting that both cars will be sold. However, that’s not the case now as Mclaren is ceasing production of the 12C to make way for the new 650S. Though, it doesn’t mean you can’t have it. Mclaren says it will only make the car as special orders for people who desire it.

This move makes more sense as Mclaren is also planning to introduce an entry-level model – known for now as P13. In this way, Mclaren will have 2 new models having a significant price gap to allow it to cater to 2 different market segments.
