Meet JLR’s most powerful SUV to date: the Range Rover Sport SV

Land Rover has taken the wraps off the Range Rover Sport SV and it takes the word ‘Sport’ to a whole new level. The all-new Range Rover Sport SV produces more power than most sports cars.

Powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with mild-hybrid technology coming from BMW, the Range Rover Sport has a whopping 626 horsepower and 800 Newton meters of torque on offer. Six Hundred and Twenty Six Horsepower. In an SUV. That too a Range Rover. Crazy.

The performance numbers are pretty crazy as well with the Sport capable of hitting 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds and flat-out it’ll do 180 mph (290 km/h). We should be keeping in mind that this is a 2,560 kilogram SUV. Talking about the weight, customers can make their Sports SV lose 36 kilograms by opting for the world's first 23-inch carbon fiber wheels.

Just like the engine, the styling has also been updated with a relatively smaller grille with sleek headlamps. Carbon fibre is present on the grille and on the front bumper blades, bonnet vents and side vents. The hood is also carbon fibre. Adding to the sportiness, the Sport has a quad-tailpipe setup.

Step inside and you will be greeted by handcrafted leather upholstery with wood and metal accents. The big star of the show in the cabin are the front seats that have built-in transducers which enable the seats to vibrate depending on the music played through the 29-speaker, 1430-watt Meridian sound system. This way the passengers are able to “feel” the music. WOW

Like all Land Rovers, a Pivi pro infotainment is on offer and can be accessed via a gorgeous 13.1-inch floating glass display. Range Rover says that 80 percent of the tasks can be performed with just two taps of the infotainment screen.

For the first year of production, Land Rover will exclusively sell the fast SUV as an Edition One, which will be "available for select clients to order by invitation only."
