Meet Lamborghini exclusive Space Key NFT

The word ‘NFT’ is becoming very popular these days with Gen Z and millennials talking about it on a regular basis. But what is an NFT? An NFT is a non-fungible token - basically it is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data which is stored on a blockchain in the form of a digital ledger. Why are we telling you about NFT? Well, that’s because supercar maker Lamborghini has made its foray into the NFT world with its exclusive carbon fibre space keys.

Back in 2019, Lamborghini was involved in a research project with the International Space Station as part of which it sent five pieces of carbon fiber to the Space station. Now the five pieces of carbon fibre have returned with QR codes which link them to an NFT. 

The Italian supercar maker hasn’t revealed any information about the research or what information the QR codes shall take one to. However, we do know that the Space Keys will be heading to the auction block soon and we are told that Lamborghini will be revealing more information in due course of time. 

Stephan Winkelmann, chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, said: "Innovation is a deeply rooted part of the Lamborghini DNA. As a leading company for carbon fiber composite materials within the automotive sector, we pushed boundaries two and a half years ago with the joint research project in space.”
