Meet the gorgeous V12 Bizzarrini Giotto

Posted by Tejas Kokcha on Apr 25, 2023

Bizzarrini is a name most of you would not have heard of but it boasts quite a lot of Italian prowess. Giotto Bizzarrini, the company's founder, worked on the first V12 engine for Lamborghini while also directly contributing to the creation of classic vehicles like the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan."

At Bizzarrini, some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. In 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name and is now on course to revive the brand. After building the 5300GT as an ultra-exclusive continuation model with only 24 units produced, Bizzarrini has teased an all new supercar.

First things first, it's called the Giotto (the first name of the company’s founder) and it looks gorgeous. The supercar has been penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio and is reminiscent of the 1960s when Giorgetto was a Bertone employee and worked on the 5300GT.

The engine is a ubiquitously Italian naturally aspirated V12 mated to an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Chris Porritt, the CTO of Bizzarrini, who previously managed engineering at Aston Martin, Rimac, and Tesla, is in charge of the engine's development.

More information about the supercar will be available later in the year. Testing is set to commence in 2024 with the year 2025 set as the target for customer deliveries.

Giorgetto Giugiaro said: “To have the opportunity to design an entirely new car from Bizzarrini is a privilege. Our two names are united in nearly six decades of history and a series of now iconic designs. With the Giotto, we honour the past but we focus wholly on the future. Designed for purpose, and incorporating active aerodynamic technologies, we have created something that is

both recognisably Bizzarrini and totally relevant for an entirely new era of this cherished Italian brand.”
