Meet the Hurtan Grand Albaycin - a two door Inspired By Arabian Cultures

Posted by Tejas Kokcha on May 9, 2023

Hurtan is a Spanish coachbuilder based in the city of Granada which specializes primarily on modifying existing vehicles into retro-looking models. The Hurtan car we’re talking about today was unveiled back in 2021 and is basically a Mazda MX-5 underneath - the Grand Albaycin.

So why are we telling you about a car launched in 2021? That’s because now the Grand Albaycin has got a special UAE limited edition and it has some glorious touches inspired by Arabian Cultures.

The Grand Albaycin echoes the design of the 1950s and 1960s and is inspired by the ethos of Granada. Customers are provided a plethora of options for customizing their car. Talking about the Arabian touches, the UAE edition has taracea ribbons on the doors, a nameplate in the cabin with Arabic calligraphy and the flag of the United Arab Emirates on the upholstery.

Hurtan has remained coy on the mechanical upgrade which means that the Grand Albaycin has two Mazda powertrains on offer - the original 1.5- or 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine. The former produces 132 hp while the latter offers 184 hp. The engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the option of an automatic gearbox available.

Juan Hurtado, the founder of Hurtan Automoviles, said: “We are thrilled to debut our flagship model, the Hurtan Grand Albaycin, in the UAE. The Middle East market is a key focus for us as we expand our global footprint, and we are confident that our handcrafted luxury cars will resonate with customers in this region who appreciate timeless design and exceptional quality.”
