Meet the very purple Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988

Jaguar is paying a tribute to its 24 Hours of Le Mans victory in 1988 with this - the Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988. 

This special edition has Jag's bespoke Midnight Amethyst (purple) paint, 22-inch forged alloy wheels with Champagne Gold Satin finish and Sunset Gold Satin (another shade of gold) on the emblems all around the exterior.

However, most of the Sunset Gold Satin is found on the car’s steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted gear shifters, seats, and dashboard. Jaguar really thinks that purple and gold are a match made in heaven.

Along with the laser-etched Edition 1988 logo on the front fender, this special F-Pace is a product of the British carmaker’s SVR department and so it has an R logo and SVR badging as well.

Under the bonnet nothing has been changed which means that the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 monster produces 550 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters of torque. That is PLENTY of power.

To celebrate the 1988 24 Hours of LeMans victory, Jaguar will be showcasing this special edition SUV alongside the Le Mans-winning XJR-9 at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, scheduled to be held from 8-12 June. The SUV will later make an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed between June 23-26.

Only 394 examples will be built with each one costing $111,150. For those of you wondering, the number of units is a nod to the number of laps completed by the XJR-9 in the historic LeMans win.
