Meet the world’s most powerful luxury SUV: the Aston Martin DBX707

What you’re seeing above might look like yet another super sports SUV but it really isn’t. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Aston Martin DBX707. ‘707’ stands for the PS the car’s V8 produces (697hp) making it the most powerful luxury SUV in the world. Notice why we are using the word ‘luxury’ here - that’s because the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most powerful SUV in the world with 700hp. Basically the Aston just missed out by 3hp. C’mon Aston you could’ve found the extra power from somewhere.

Anyways, let’s talk about where Aston has got 155hp more in the 707 over the standard DBX. Since close ties with Mercedes, Aston has been making use of the German’s bi-turbo V8. However in the DBX, while Aston has used the same engine, it has given it new ball bearing turbos and a complete remap making the powertrain completely exclusive to Aston Martin.

Another star of the show in the DBX707 is the SUV’s nine-speed ‘wet-clutch’ automatic gearbox which puts the car’s humongous 663lb ft of torque to the road while offering faster gearshifts and better launch from standstill.

0-62mph (100kph) takes just 3.3 seconds and the SUV gets a top speed of 193mph. With stats like those, it brushes aside rivals like the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne GT Turbo. In order to stop the 2.2 tonne monster, Aston has given the DBX707 huge Carbon ceramic 420mm disc brakes at the front and 390mm disc brakes at the back coupled with six-piston callipers.

To give the DBX707 more performance, Aston has given it a new e-diff, Electronic Active Roll Control (eARC) system to reduce body roll, air suspension and new springs. 

Phew, that’s a lot of mechanical info, now let’s talk about the car’s exterior. The most noticeable bit is its new big grille which gives the monstrous V8 more cooling along with a new front splitter. At the back you will find a roof wing which gives “reduces lift and increases high-speed agility” and new exhausts which have a quad-exit active system.

Step inside and you will find 16 way adjustable seats and lots of alcantara and leather no matter which interior configuration you go for. The switchgear has a dark chrome finish as standard with option of a bright chrome and carbon fibre finish also available. However, Aston Martin’ Q department will “push the boundaries” to tailor make your DBX707 completely bespoke for you.
