Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe launched

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Mar 26, 2016

Interesting piece of new from the Mercedes-Benz camp. The maker has revealed the all-new GLC Coupe at the New York Auto Show. Well, to be honest, this is not surprising news as Mercedes-Benz have already released the GLE Coupe to battle the BMW X6 so the GLC Coupe is obvious to compete against the BMW X4.

Coming to the car itself, the GLC coupe will be releasing in two variants. The base model will be the GLC300 Coupe which will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 240 BHP. However, if anyone requires more power then there is the GLC43 Coupe that holds a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 engine producing 362 BHP. This new engine is found in other ‘43’ models like the GLC43 and E43.

Both the GLC models will be equipped with a 9 speed automatic transmission. I guess it is time Mercedes hopped on the 9 speed bandwagon as well. The GLC43 Coupe is obviously the faster one among the two and is capable of accelerating from 0-100 in about 5 seconds. The GLC43 also receives AMG tuned sports suspension and the rear-focussed all-wheel-drive system.

The interior of the GLC Coupe is more or less the same like the regular GLC. However, the rear space will be a bit less specially due to the sloping roofline at the back. Standard features will depend on the GCC specs so they can’t be confirmed yet but we do believe that the 7” screen, various drive modes, power tailgate, sunroof and COMAND infotainment system will be standard. Optional upgrades will include air suspension, adaptive cruise control etc.

The GLC Coupe will be debuting as the 2017 year model and will be launched (hopefully with pricing) next year.
