Tesla, an American automotive and energy storage company that began in 2003, has carved a niche for itself in the automotive landscape and has become synonymous with breakthrough technology. Its newest rival, however, comes from Germany and has its vision set on beating Tesla at its own game. Believed to be displayed at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in September, Mercedes-Benz executives claim that the brand has plans of unveiling a concept high-performance all-electric sedan. With an all-wheel-drive layout complimented by a range of approximately 483 km on a single charge and performance to match the Tesla Model S, it isn’t the best news to make its way to the American marque.

The benefit to Mercedes-Benz in extending its electric vehicle line-up, lies in the fact that it has a longer history and a better track record when it comes to meeting production deadlines. This news succeeds previous reports of the German brand aiming to add four electric vehicles into its line-up before the end of the decade, two sedans and two SUVs.
