Mercedes Developing App for Google Glass

Posted by on Oct 30, 2013

When it comes to smartphone navigation, nothing comes close to Google Maps. When Google announced Google Glass, it took augmented reality to a whole new level. So it was expected that automakers will want to grab a piece of that action. Mercedes is now developing one of the first automotive apps for Google Glass. As per reports by Automotive News, one of the functions of the app is to continue navigation once out of the car. For example, the user sets a destination using Google Glass, then when he/she sits in the car, the navigation seamlessly continues using the car’s navigation system and once the user is out of the car, Google Glass takes over the navigation again. But this is one of the functions Mercedes is looking at for the app. Other car manufacturers are bound to follow or may have already started development but have not revealed yet.
