MG unveils stylish RX5 SUV in the Middle East

MG has launched the refreshed RX5 SUV in the Middle East. The British marque says that the RX5 “is designed to provide a healthy and comfortable, safe, efficient, intelligent, and connected travel experience.”

The RX5’s youthful looks were designed with the aid of digital computing design. Overall the car has a pretty solid stance with the LED lights inspired by the High-Speed Quantum Energy Block and “Twin-Aero” rear spoiler giving it a tad of sportiness.

Under the bonnet the RX5 has 1.5T high-pressure direct injection turbocharged engine capable of producing 171 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. Not some very groundbreaking numbers, but the SUV packs plenty of punch for an all-rounder SUV. 

Step inside and you will find an interior which has all the MG attributes with loads of tech and connected car features on offer. The central control panel has a 14.1 inch vertical touch screen integrated into it.

“The ergonomic gear lever wouldn’t look out of place in a spacecraft,” says MG. Four-way electric passenger seats, a panoramic sunroof, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available inside. 

Eight safety features are available: ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), ARP (Active Rollover Protection), CBC (Cornering brake control), HDC (Hill descent control), BDW (Brake Disc Wiping) and, of course, TCS (Traction Control System).

Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Motor’s Middle East operations, commented: “MG’s popularity in the region has been greatly driven by the demand for our great value SUVs, and we expect the all-new 2023 MG RX5 to enhance this demand.”

Owners of the RX5 will get MG’s six-year/200,000 km warranty. Inter Emirates Motors (IEM), a subsidiary of Ali and Sons Holding and the official distributor of MG Motor in the UAE, will be announcing the prices of the RX5 shortly.
