The Metro plans to have more seats especially for women, according to an announcement they made.

Starting from next month, half of the Silver Class, the carriages located right after the ladies carriages, will also be reserved for women. Stickers and signs showing that this area has been reserved for women and children has already been posted on most trains.

These reservations will be active only during peak hours, which are from Sunday to Thursday from 7 am till 9 am and from 5pm till 8pm

"The number of women and child Metro passengers has noticeably increased," said Ramadan Abdulla, director of rail operations at the Roads and Transport Authority.

"In reply to such a rise, we decided to extend the current capacity of their metro cabin."

He also added: "We are committed to making Metro trips smoother and more comfortable for women and children, especially because they need to have more care taken due to their privacy needs."
